CRIME, PRISONS AND SOCIAL INJUSTICE

My name is Dr Anna Kotova and I am a Lecturer at the University of Birmingham, England.

My main research and teaching interests include: sociology of imprisonment and prisoners' lived experiences, the experiences of prisoners' families and social injustice in the criminal justice system. I have an especial interest in serious and long-term offenders and their families, and make a point of drawing on a broad range of sociological work (e.g. sociology of time, family and intimacy) in exploring their experiences. I am also interested in interpersonal relationships between people in prison.
